“On entering division” is the delay logged at the first station of the train's route inside the division; for a train that originates inside it, that is its late start. “Gained / lost” is the difference between that and the current delay — time lost (+) or made up (−) since entry.

Work Out Directions From The Network
Trains passing the same stations in the same order run the same way; in the opposite order, opposite ways. One answer therefore settles every train sharing that route, so a whole division usually takes a handful of questions.

A section is two contiguous stations in the direction the train ran, so AGT–KYQ and KYQ–AGT are separate. The detention is the train's delay at Station 2 minus its delay at Station 1, from the Train Running log. Only increases of at least the minimum are listed; time made up is not a detention.
CRIS reports only where a train is at each poll, so a station can be missed between two readings. The detention is then shown against the two logged stations either side, marked via the stations skipped, so nothing is lost. Only sections with both stations inside the division are counted.
The period picks up a detention when the train's reported time at Station 1 falls on or between the From and To dates (00:00–23:59). Timing_1 and Timing_2 are the actual reported times, with Arr/Dep as reported.
